Match at Independence High School on Wednesday, January 27

Independence is hosting Cave Springs (VA) for a dual meet this Wednesday. Cave Springs is expected to end Christiansburg's run of 14 straight state titles this season and has, among others, PowerAde champ (and former Wheeling Park Patriot) Cody Amos. We would like to make it a quad. We plan to weigh in at 4 pm and wrestle at 5 pm. who is supposed to take the title from Christiansburg this year. If there are any teams (AA or AAA) that would like to fill those WSAZ weigh ins with some tough competition, contact Cliff Warden at 304-890-4854

Are you sure this Cody Amos used to wrestle for Park?

The Cody Amos I know of from WP finished:
2nd/152 as a freshman in 2010
2nd/160 as a soph in 2011
3rd/170 as a junior in 2012
182 had to injury default as a senior in 2013

I don't see how he could still be wrestling unless it was in college

Not a coach, this is a wrestler named Cody Amos for Cave Spring, VA who won Powerade this year. I am saying it is not the same Cody Amos who wrestled for Wheeling Park from 2010-13.

I read somewhere else that it was the same Cody Amos and assumed (incorrectly) that it was true. My apologies.

Wednesday evening, Independence will host Cave Springs (VA), Riverside and George Washington. Weigh-ins will be held at 4 pm. Wrestling will begin at 5 pm. Leaving aside some good matchups in the lowers weights, Riverside will bring the second-ranked wrestler at 195, 220 and 285 in AAA (assuming, based on the WSAZ seeds, that Grant Safford is dropping to 182). Independence will have the top ranked AA wrestlers at 195 and 220 along with the sixth-ranked 285. Cave Springs placed guys at PowerAde in each of those three weights. It should make for some pretty good matchups. You're all invited to come out and watch.
