SOUTH/PHS MATCH JAN 24TH
WILL THEY BEAT US AT THE DUELS,ALTHOUGH WE WERE WITHOUT 5 STARTERS. WITH OUR FULL TEAM WE SHOULD BEAT THEM BY AT LEAST 40 POINTS. BE SURE NOT TO MISS ROUND TWO OF SOUTH/PHS !

First time in 50 years there hasn't been an article in the paper the morning of the match.

PSHS 56 PHS 15
Re: SOUTH/PHS MATCH JAN 24TH
Why would the paper preview such an unimportant event. This match has no bearing or interest in the state or the local area. South isn't looking to avenge an earlier loss to PHS from the WV Duals and prove their #1 ranking. Why it only features the two top rank teams in AAA. Who cares about this match. Look at how unattractive the individual matchups are:
106 #2 Tucker Winland, South vs. #3 Garrett Donahue, PHS
113 #3 Hunter Ackerman, PHS vs. #5 Ian Irizarry, South
120 #1 John Martin Best, PHS vs. #2 Brayden Roberts, South
126 #1 Luke Martin, South vs. #8 Braxton Byrd, PHS
132 #4 Mikey Shamblin, South vs. #5 Bo Moler, PHS
138 #1 Jared Donahue, PHS vs. #6 Landon Flinn, South
145 #3 Stephen Carder, PHS vs. #5 Jarritt Flinn, South
152 #1 Zane Hinzman, South vs. #10 Matt Fox, PHS
160 #5 Drew Dunbar, South vs. #9 Logan Nay, PHS
170 #1 T. J. Lambiotte, South vs. #7 Jalen King, PHS
182 #1 Hunter DeLong, South vs. Tyler Moler, PHS
195 #1 Justin Allman, South vs. C. J. Wade, PHS
220 #5 Garrett Wolfe, South vs forfeit
285 #1 Louden Haga, South vs. #5 Donavon McCune, PHS
All kidding aside, South is favored in 10 of 14 weight classes, but several matchups pair closely rank opponents and could go either way. Look for some good wrestling in the following weight classes where mild upsets could occur: 106, 113, 120, 132, 145, 160 and HWT. South is the heavy favorite in six weight classes: 126, 152, 170, 182, 195 and 220 while PHS is heavy favorite at 138.
I'm looking forward to a good dual tonite.
Thanks - Brent

Re: SOUTH/PHS MATCH JAN 24TH
Very true Jenny and Brent. The entire front page of the sports section of Saturdays Wheelings paper was all about high school wrestling. I thought maybe Id see an article about tonights dual in our paper. Maybe they didn't have room lol. Thanks Brent for the line up!

Re: SOUTH/PHS MATCH JAN 24TH
54-15 South
Shame on Parkersburg News for not interviewing both coaches and team leaders before this traditional rivalry. Best rivalry in the state.
Good luck.
