Bear Tracks AA/A In Season - Edition 1

Postby Bearhugger » Mon Dec 16, 2019 2:20 am

BEAR TRACKS AA/A In Season Edition 1 – December 16th

New Messages and format enhancements:

1. A new feature has been added called “SIGNIFICANT MATCHES”. We are looking for matches that will have an impact on rankings. Ranked and STQ wrestlers losing matches mainly. Input is greatly needed on this one.
2. I have on good authority that some wrestlers will be down to the weight class they are currently ranked this week, despite competing up one weight class now.
3. When you see a wrestler’s grade followed by /// and a weight, this indicates that the word on the street is they are going down to the weight class listed. See 220 and 285 below.
4. Some weight classes have their STQs transitioned into the Ranked section already. This will be an ongoing goal for each weight class. 106 is there now.
5. Some weight classes have the designation “STQ & UP”. This happens when a wrestler from the “Pack” defeats a returning STQ. The STQ & UP will be maintained until further intel is gathered.
6. An “Inactive” section will be added before Christmas. If a wrestler is not wrestling, then he/she cannot be ranked. They will be shifted to “inactive” until their name appears in the scores or through strong word on the street.

Guidelines:
1. Wrestlers begin the preseason ranked based on how they finished at the previous state tournament.
2. Incoming freshman begin the season unranked.
3. The basis of the Bear tracks ranking system is “To be the man, you have to beat the man”.
4. Each weight class will begin divided into three sub categories. During the preseason, the “ranked” wrestlers will be only returning state place winners. The “STQ” will be returning state tournament qualifiers that did not place. The “Pack” will be all incoming freshmen and NON-STQs.
5. Added feature for 2019/2020. The returning STQs will be ranked based on wins and losses at the state tournament. A wrestler that went 1-2 will be ranked higher than a wrestler that went 0-2.
6. During the preseason, wrestlers will be assigned to their given weight class based on Super 32 registration, the highly reliable tool known as “Word on the Street” and the newly created quantitative programs developed by the Bear Tracks Analytics Team.
7. Any head to head WV vs WV matches that take place at Super 32 will be used to adjust rankings.
8. By popular demand, the wrestler’s grade will now be recognized on their resume.
9. Wrestlers will be recognized as follows: Name/School/State Placement/Region/Grade/Source. The source is one of the three topics listed above in guideline 6.
10. In the beginning, rankings will be created on the best available information and updated as information becomes accessible.

Jason Beisel 120lbs beat Clayton Lamb from Oak Glen at Weir Powerhouse 8-7. Jason was 20-1 last year when he sustained a season ending injury at the Cameron Tournament.

Thank you for the feedback. Look for the update in edition 2 coming out this week.

Another significant match was Tarley/FS over Clere/GWest.

170 Scott from FSHS is a STQ from last season, should be placed in the rankings for 170 this season. He beat Stansberry from Williamson this past weekend for first place at the Raider Cup. Freshman transfer from East Side to FSHS, Hamilton 120lbs, is going to be a huge addition to that team as well. He's one to watch out for and a likely STQ and place winner for this season.

As far as the transfers from East Side I think that’s an issue that should be looked into. Many good athletes simply transfer to West Fairmont whenever they want it seems. You’re welcome for the East Side talent helping provide your success.

No wrestler transferred to fairmont senior this year. Two wrestlers were in 8th grade at east middle and chose to go to fshs. Everyone is offered that opportunity. So no transfer. A few years back two wrestlers transferred away from fshs in the same year. I can name no one else that has transferred to fshs for wrestling.

Fairmont is a tough place for student athletes. If one wants to play football, FSHS appears to be the place to be. However, if one wants to wrestle and go to the WSAZ like they did in middle school, East Fairmont or North Marion is the better place. I would send my kids down to Bridgeport and get the best of both worlds.

No problem. I can flip flop them. The Bear Tracks field operative handling the Keyser territory just recently informed me that Fox was going 220 and Kephart was 195. Your intel is more recent.

Won't these two be in action at the Superior Photo Tournament?

Okay, internet tough guy. His response was to someone else. Therefore, your response to him saying "pardon me" was odd, given the fact that he wasn't talking to you.
Perhaps it is you who need to work on your reading comprehension skills.

I agree with Justdesserts. I found this confusing too, as to why someone listed another's post then responded this way. I just figured it must be a glitch with the websites postings. Then I looked back and found a "noncontroversial" post (and not re-quoted with the followup post in question) they had made earlier that 13wrestler then decided to add some negativity about. Therein lies the confusion and we are all guilty of "not reading much".

I was simply correcting what I had originally posted about the two wrestlers "transferring" from east to west based on the current post between two other board members...I said "pardon me" because I didn't mention they were in middle school on east side before they decided to go over to FSHS in a previous post on this thread. You're the one suggesting I and another member are the same person. "Tough guy"? What, are we in middle school here? People sure do get their panties in a wad quickly these days on social media.

I would send my kids down to Bridgeport and get the best of both worlds.

Your kid wouldn't be wrestling then. He'd either be a stud offensive lineman or a great baseball player. Just how it goes.

Just to throw a little fire on the east vs west thing lol, didn't G. Michaels come from east fairmont? Lol

no G Michael dad is principal at EFMS. little brother goes to EFMS but actually live near north marion. FSHS football put on the map by the Stills brothers who lived on east side. its kinda the cool thing to do is having multiple kids in the same household going to different schools

Um, no... reading is your friend.

Okay, internet tough guy. His response was to someone else. Therefore, your response to him saying "pardon me" was odd, given the fact that he wasn't talking to you.
Perhaps it is you who need to work on your reading comprehension skills.
