wrestler to take over as wvu AD?

Postby ZZChooseTop » Wed Dec 17, 2014 2:57 pm

I wandered how long Luck was staying when wvu got Joe heskett last year. Now we know Ollie is leaving. Is coach heskett next in line for the job?

That would be nice, I'd be shocked though.

Heskett will be an AD someday, somewhere, but needs a lot more experience.

If WVU stays in-house, the leading candidate would be executive senior assistant AD Keli Cunningham, to whom Oliver Luck delegated a lot of responsibility.

Word is President Gee really is high on Alabama Associate AD Shane Lyons, a Parkersburg native and WVU grad.

I do not know him. What does he bring to the table?

Shane Lyons will get the job per the Charleston Gazette.

Lyons has two degrees from WVU and was an asst commissioner with the ACC for 10 years before joining the University of Alabama athletic department in 2011. He also worked for the NCAA for 9 years, as well as for the Big South Conference and spent 3 years at Texas Tech.

Sounds pretty qualified -and Pres.Gee has run Ohio State, Vanderbilt etc., so I'm sure he knows what to look for in an AD.
