I was chatting today with my good friend "TrueSouthFanWithAnAbacus" and he totaled up the following WV Fargo roster totals by year:

2019: 12

2018: 21

2017: 13

2016: 17

In the past, we have not been doing a good enough job promoting freestyle and Greco to the youth. The biggest reason I have been given by the youth coaches is they have no knowledge of how to go about teaching it.

The other reason is the expense. However, sponsors would and should help with that.
On that side of things, this time of year, everyone is predisposed to give to baseball teams and wrestling is way down on their lists of being charitable to.

Also, involvement is a tremendous hurdle. We need help to grow the sport, not complaints about why it's not growing.

Fear of the unknown is getting in the way. We are trying to remedy this going forward in the youth programs with the help of all those around, including getting the college coaches involved. Anyone who wants to help with expanding our youth wrestling programs to start doing more with freestyle and Greco wrestling, please jump in and get involved. It will make our HS programs better.

We already have a ton of kids that can compete but they don't.

Many hands make light work. Step up and get involved. Reach out to those in charge and they will find a role for you.
