Girls State Tournament status

Intercepted message from Tournament Director
"Girls State Tournament registration closes Monday, March 8th. As of right now, we have less than 10 girls registered. If we don't get at least 50 girls registered, we will cancel the tournament. Please spread the word. This is a WVSSAC sanctioned event so we can only accept middle school and high school teams. A certified, school coach must be present to coach. "

Last year we had over 70 participants in the girls first state tournament, a good start. If we want the WVSSAC to recognize Girls Wrestling as an official sport in West Virginia, this tournament must grow in numbers. The WVSSAC uses this tournament as a beta test for interest and number of participants to make their decision.

Just an assumption. But we lost our girls due to the overlap with softball. Wondering if the season overlap will kill girls wrestling participation this year.

The Friday morning status has 25 girls registered for the state tournament. Registration ends Monday, March 8th. We need more entries to make this event happen. Please register ASAP. Thanks
