AAA Decision Making 101 - 182 vs 195 in Region 4

Postby Bearhugger » Fri Jan 21, 2022 11:01 pm

If you are in region 4 at 182 and your name is not Misner, Edwards or Giompalo, I would order a pizza and head to 195.

Region 4 has 3 of the top 5 ranked 182s.

Region 4 has only one 195 ranked in the top 10.

If you stay at 182, expect to strive for 4th. The pill will serve you up a hammer from region 1, or Edge from Region 3 or perhaps an unranked wrestler from region 2 on State Tournament Thursday Night.
Holy smokes. Braxton Amos works out with a landmine now!!!!!!

If they are 3 of the top 5 they will wrestle out to the semis anywhere. Make a post to teach kids to run.

Perhaps the post is to teach kids how to evaluate their options and chances. Very little room to qualify for the state tournament if you are a 182 in AAA Region 4.

Though if you qualify as the 4th placer you know you won’t see any of those 1-3 until the State semi finals. Sure they could face a tough first round match, but there’s no safe place to hide at the state tournament. You eventually have to beat someone good if you want on the podium. And if CM’s 195 is back for the regional that’s another tough kid at 195 in the regional.

Teaching a wrestler to run was not my intent. However, I see what I have done now by shooting off my big mouth.

Gage Wright has now RAN to 182.

AAA 182 at the state tournament is going to be crazy. Given results, 1-6 could win the tournament completely or even face not placing giving the quality of 7-8. And those are just the guys everyone really knows about. This will certainly be a fun and competitive one.

182 is highly overrated and that is what Gage will show this upcoming weekend.

The upper weights will be exposed. Wright vs Bush in finals with neither being pushed much…

I'm not sure anyone has "overrated" any of these wrestlers. I have seen all of these guys and I believe the point is that they are all quality wrestlers and all very close to each other, which makes it a more competitive weight class than some others where one, two, or three guys are way ahead of the rest of the pack.

I agree! Have seen them all wrestle, too. They are very good wrestlers, indeed.
