The Cougs are alive and well. I believe they have a total of 6 or 7 wrestlers now. Hovermale has returned from injury at 170. They will be headed to Shady Spring Tournament this weekend and are hosting the Big 10 conference tournament next weekend.

Anyone have the pools for Friday yet???? I assume each team will wrestle 5 duals.

With only one point separating PHS and University, and both schools having wrestlers in the 3 remaining weight classes, this could shape up to be a nice story heading into state tournament #2.

I would love to see a full 2 weeks between the last regular season competition and the regionals. For most that would be your conference tournament. I think that all coaches should bring their 5th place finishers. Last year at AA/A 285 a wrestler did not pass skin check and the 5th place finisher was in attendance. Your data will prove parity in the championship rd of 16 and quarterfinal rd. AAA may be done a full 30 minutes or so ahead of AA/A. There will be many AAA wrestlers having a good view of the civic center lights during those rounds.

Will all 23 teams that offer wrestling in single A be there? The flyer says 32 man brackets. I assume this means all teams will be there and any J.V wrestlers will be permitted. I really like the concept of this tournament.

AAA top dogs may be better in some weight classes, but watch on Thursday night and even Friday morning session how much quicker AAA goes. This is due to lack of parity. Lots of quick pins and mismatches in the early rounds. IMO this is bad for the sport. AA/A has much more parity and makes it better...

That's a shame. Same thing will happen in Region 1 AA/A. Regions could've easily been balanced more fairly. Interesting look at the new AA/A Individual rankings. I see only 14 kids from single A schools are ranked in the Top 6. Out of 84 predicted podium spots only 16.7% will hail from Single A schools. I would go out on a limb and set that number at 10 when its all said and done. Any thoughts?

Elkins always has a team of about 10 guys. They don't go to many tournamments and don't post any scores. They will be at the Big 10 conference meet on Feb 4th at Fairmont

Yes, you are correct. Name and team points are removed. I wasn't there so I'm not aware of what happened. The rule is you have to sit your next 2 weigh ins. Hope their coach didn't think it could be any 2 weigh ins.
