Congratulations to Greenbrier East's Micah Fischer on being named the 2022 National Wrestling Hall of Fame Tricia Saunders Award Winner for West Virginia. The award recognizes and celebrates the nation’s most outstanding high school senior female wrestlers from each state for their excellence in wrestling, scholastic achievement, citizenship, and community service.

Beyond her school achievements in athletics and academics, Fischer involves herself in events with her JROTC Color Guard activities at Veteran's POW/MIA events and other community ceremonies. She is active in her church's youth group and has been a youth group leader for the past four years. Fischer also volunteers at the Farm to Food Pavalion at the West Virginia State Fair and volunteers on feeding fair workers.
Fischer is a member of the National Honor Society and excels in the classroom with Honors and AP Courses. She is the Student Body Vice President of Communications. Fischer also is the Captain of the award winning JROTC Color Guard, Rifle Team, and Drill Team.
She is a three time West Virginia Girls State High School Wrestling Champion, the 2022 National High School Coaches Association Runner-up, the West Virginia Girls State Freestyle Champion, Super 32 Early Entry Champion, Powerade Champion, and Pikeview Invitational Champion. Fischer has qualified three times for the West Virginia State Varsity Tournament as well as placing at several other varsity (co-ed) tournaments.
Fischer also holds a White Belt in Jiu Jitsu, is an award winning gymnast, and also has placed at several Cross Country Events for her school.
She most recently has signed with the University of the Cumberlands in Kentucky to wrestle and has finished paperwork for serving her country with the National Guard.
