WVU Wrestling is excited to announce that we have hired Muhammed McBryde as our new volunteer assistant coach. McBryde wrestled collegiately at Buffalo but hit his stride on the freestyle scene.
In 2019, he won the U23 World Team Trials and would finish 5th at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary. After graduating from Buffalo, McBryde spent some time at his alma mater as the volunteer assistant. McBryde then made the move to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, where he has been the main training partner for world champion and Olympic bronze medalist J'den Cox.
However, McBryde is still active on the Senior level himself. In 2020, he won the Guelph Open in Canada, was sixth at the prestigious 2021 Matteo Pellicone in Rome, and was recently fifth at Senior Nationals in May. McBryde will be making his way to Morgantown after competing in the 2021 World Team Trials September 11-12 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
We're excited as a staff to work with Muhamed, and our big guys can't wait for him to get in the room.
