Braxton Amos won everything in high school. Recently won a WORLD Gold Medal in Freestyle and a Bronze in Greco Roman.
Flo Rankings still has him unranked. Not even an Honorable Mention.
It is obvious that Flo is now copying the ranking logic that has been in place at Bear Tracks for years.
It doesn't matter what you accomplished before. It doesn't matter what you accomplished in other styles.
You have to start at the bottom and then beat a ranked wrestler in the style and division that is being ranked.

Just lost to Hofstra. 197 is stacked plus he hasn’t been focused on folk style. Definitely need to be patient. The Ferrari talk needs to slow down a bit.

InterMat has Amos (2-0) at #16, which is still ridiculous.

As an aside, 5 of the top 10 wrestlers at 197 are from the Big 12.

I'm sure that's just fine with Braxton. That way maybe he'll sneak in under the radar, as nobody will know who he is
.

Well...Amos defeated #26 ranked Max Shaw from UNC on Saturday. However, he lost to #29 ranked Trey Rogers from Hofstra on Saturday. NCAA is deep with great wrestlers.

An early season loss could be weight loss issue or an injury. I have no idea that is the reason but I have seen this happen to more than a few national champ throughout their career. I don't like that you go from a 215lb weight class in HS to 197lb or Hwy. in college. At a MINIMUM I see Amos AA this year.

Actually it was 220lbs. The real ridiculous situation is having a 197 to 285 jump in college.
Add a 225lb weight class in college and add one scholarship. As a college graduate, I cannot see how any school cannot absorb +1 student athlete.
If title 9 comes up, the 225 can identify as whatever is needed to get the scholarship.

I could also see Amos going to Hwy next year and easily AA if weight becomes an issue. He reminds me of Snyder hitting singles and doubles on guys a lot bigger.

Intermat has Amos (7-1) ranked #27 as of December 14, 2021.

My money still has him earning All American status this March in Detroit.

Yeah I could see him being an AA. Even tho 197lbs is stacked. Flo hyping him vs Ferrari tho was a bit premature. Even tho I’d obviously love to see him win it. Just shows there’s a big difference in styles.
Just hope everyone stays covid free and the finals happen.

Brucki got him pretty good. I remember people on here when he was a junior in HS saying he’d beat then undefeated Noah Adams lol. Come on now. In freestyle he may have tho.
I’d live to add a 220lb weight class but it’ll never happen. Hell they make fun of 197lbs because it’s most of the time the worst weight except this year. Plus they’ll never give them another scholly. I don’t think a move to HW would be a very good move. Comparing anyone to Snyder is just crazy. He’ll figure it out. Not being able to wrestle college level folk style I think really hurt him for this year.

Yeah he’s looking good. Getting used to the college folk style grind. Lost to Bulsak 8-7 the other day. The big10 tournament will be awesome.

Braxton now ranked #22 took on #3 Eric Schultz of Nebraska tonight. Schultz pulled out a 3-1 decision.
